Research Study Participants

Seeking Healthy Adult Upper Limb Amputee Volunteers

Status: Open

You are invited to participate in a study to evaluate a new hand prosthetic system developed by Dr. Ranu Jung at Florida International University. The system is allowed by the FDA for investigation and is intended to provide the sense of touch and grip force to the user by wirelessly sending electrical stimulation pulses to electrodes implanted in nerves of the residual limb. Compensation available. If you are at least 18 years of age and have a below-the-elbow amputation that occurred 9 months ago or more, then you might be eligible to participate. For further information, go to this link: http://ans.fiu.edu/S3EN, or contact the Research Coordinator at 305-348-4782, ANSlab@fiu.edu or Dr. Jung at rjung@fiu.edu.

  • Adults 18 and above with upper extremity, above-the-elbow, amputation

Please see this flyer for additional information.

Biomechanics of Knee Osteoarthritis

Status: Closed

Volunteer to be part of a research study for the benefit of those with knee Osteoarthritis (OA) and help us to discover new knowledge about OA and its effects on function.

  • Adults ages 50-65 with mild knee osteoarthritis
  • Adults ages 50-65 with severe knee osteoarthritis
  • Healthy adults ages 50-65 with no history of knee injury or knee pain
  • Healthy adults ages 21-35 with no history of knee injury or knee pain
